In 1929, Jennie Lee left her coal-mining family in Scotland to become Westminster’s youngest MP – so young that, as a woman, she couldn’t even vote for herself.
Tenacious, bold and rebellious, Jennie cut her own path through history.
Jennie fought with her every breath for the betterment of all our lives. She believed that every person deserved their share of the fruits of the earth – for wages, health, and housing, and for art and education too.
Duo Nostalgias play Argentinian tangos and other South American songs combined with opera and classical songs. They are opera singer Valentia Diaz and pianist and accordionist Barney Tabor.

Leeds quintet Eades are back with a new EP.
The band are following up their debut album ‘Delusion Spree’ with ‘Fight Or Flight’, teased by early single ‘Liquid Gold’ and due on 14th August via their own label Bam Bam Records.
This exhibition explores the relationship between Henry Thorne & Co. Ltd. of Leeds, the Woodhead family of Chesterfield and the firm E. Woodhead & Sons Ltd. The Quaker Thorne family moved to Leeds around 1830 and Henry established his business on Cheapside.
Items displayed are from the Central Library’s archive and a private Thorne’s collection.
ACCA Dance Theatre are Leeds based dance theatre making work that reflects and comments on the contemporary society via funny, thought-provoking dance theatre performances and participation activities. Their style has a physical backbone, drawing on character and conceptuality to investigate the topics which inspire each project.
