This exhibition explores the relationship between Henry Thorne & Co. Ltd. of Leeds, the Woodhead family of Chesterfield and the firm E. Woodhead & Sons Ltd. The Quaker Thorne family moved to Leeds around 1830 and Henry established his business on Cheapside. 

Items displayed are from the Central Library’s archive and a private Thorne’s collection.

To accompany this exhibition there is a talk on Thorne’s of Leeds and its Chesterfield connections: taking place at the Central Library on Thursday 5 September, 1.00 - 2.00pm
