Readings by a different local published poet each month and this month were delighted to welcome ‘on video’ LINDA MARSHALL, poet and former co-editor of Aireings poetry magazine, she has four collections of poetry to her name, including Cloud Cuckoo Café, published by Yaffle Press, and contains poems that will make people wake up and smell the coffee! Her latest collection, Headingley Hullabaloo, was published just last year.

Tuesday Night Live: Colour of Light

COLOUR OF LIGHT – a guitar, banjo, double bass, harmonica and vocal ensemble, blending folk, blues, bluegrass and classical influences into their own unique sound.

Their finely crafted original songs combine rebellion, reflection and celebration.

Individually these musicians have performed at Glastonbury and Latitude festivals, won awards, been played on BBC6 Music and BBC Radio 4 and have over 3 million Spotify plays.

Tuesday Night Live: Dufftet

Dufftet is a solo venture led by Leeds based Tenor Saxophonist, Saul Duff. 

Saul plays with Leeds based groups Awen Ensemble and Ferg’s Imaginary Big Band, starting Dufftet as a means to play his own compositions. Saul takes a great deal of influence from Jazz saxophonists such as Paul Desmond, Seamus Blake, and Dexter Gordon, also often citing Pat Metheny as a writing influence. Saul likes to write pieces about his home in Gorton, Manchester, and plays these alongside a selection of standards. The band features :

School of Music FUAM Ensemble in Residence, The Marsyas Trio, formed of Australian flautist Helen Vidovich, Canadian cellist Valerie Welbanks and Belarusian pianist Olga Stezhko, are graduates of the Royal Academy of Music. Showcasing a diverse repertoire from the Classical and Romantic eras to the present day, the Marsyas Trio’s programming revives a forgotten canon of repertoire whilst inspiring a generation of new works through commissioning and recording.

Marsyas Trio - Lunchtime Concert

Carl Maria von Weber - Trio in G minor, op 63 
Johann Wilhelm Wilms - Trio for flute, cello & piano in D major, op 6

Weber’s Trio op 63 is one of the most well-known early Romantic works for the flute-cello-piano trio. Wilms, born in 1772, wrote seven symphonies as well as the Dutch national anthem, yet his music remains relatively unknown.
