In this workshop you will make prints that can be displayed as artworks in their own right, or used as a basis for other projects, such as embroidery, mixed media pieces, or journalling, and you will leave with a stash of prints. Impressive results are easily achievable with this quick and simple process, and there is no requirement to be able to draw as a variety of options can be incorporated.
Natural, botanical, and abstract themes will be explored, especially as botanical themes provide great scope for making organic shapes within print making, without the need for perfection.
Full step by step tuition is provided in this workshop where we will first create multiple printed backgrounds on natural fabrics with acrylic paint. Then we will select areas of print to enhance with watercolour paint, embroidery, and embellishments. The methods selected will be tailored to your prints, and guidance will be given as to how to enhance your work, or you will have free rein to be as creative as you like.
We will also discuss uses for your panels, and how to take them into a project following this workshop. The project involves a few simple stitches, and is suitable for beginners as Victoria will guide you through the steps. It is also suitable for advanced stitchers as it is possible to be creative with the printing and embroidery.
The embroidered panel can be framed as art, or as a wall hanging, or applied to a number of objects and you will receive sufficient materials to continue to stitch your pieces at home if you wish.
