The Joint

The Joint is a weekly jazz night curated by a rolling roster of student/newbie promoters, supported by Sela and Not a thing. 

The promoters select two of the freshest jazz acts from all across the Leeds jazz scene every week! 

This will be a Leeds Jazz Festival special so we're sure to have an even more incredible line up than usual.

Blues like Showers of Rain and Jazz is Our Religion - Film Screening

A rare screening of two classic documentary films by British director John Jeremy. 

Blues Like Showers of Rain (1970) provides an unflinching insight into the conditions that gave birth to the blues in America, charting the evolving sound of the blues as musicians moved from rural areas into the cities. As both director and editor Jeremy deftly combines the field recordings and still photographs of the British blues historian Paul Oliver (1927 – 2017) gathered on a trip through the United States in 1960.

Nova.Sol + Romy Taylor + TFUZ + Kneil

For his final Leeds Jazz Festival 2025 show, promoter Lubi Jovanovic (DJ Lubi), is featuring a night dedicated to the next generation of jazz musicians breaking out right now from the buzzing Leeds DIY jazz scene. For this. he's teamed up with Leeds breakbeat jazz crew Nova.Sol for their first ever Brudenell headline show and together, they are curating a multi-bill night of music taking in the full spectrum of jazz in the city.

Leeds Jazz Festival 2025 Jam Session

Following on from last year’s success, Jazz Leeds present this year’s Leeds Jazz festival jam session on Sunday afternoon at Seven Arts – and they want you to come along. 

Vocalists and instrumentalists, trad jazz to improv., standards to original tunes – all are welcome – you can blow your own trumpet or just watch the fun.

Snowpoet + Tom Harris

Hailed as “one of the most innovative and creative bands in the UK today” (Soweto Kinch, BBC Radio 3), Snowpoet premiere their much anticipated fourth studio album Heartstrings at Leeds Jazz Festival.

Their third release on Edition Records, Heartstrings follows the hugely successful albums Thought You Knew hailed by NPR as one of the best albums in 2018 and Wait For Me in 2021.

Jazz Kissa - ジャズ喫茶

Club 15 and Echelon Coffee Roasters are bringing a bit of Japanese Jazz listening culture to Leeds. Inspired by the Jazz Cafe's of Japan, the Jazz Kissa features a custom built audiophile sound system playing rare Japanese and World Jazz on vinyl, as well as offering manually poured speciality roasted coffee from Echelon, a vinyl record store from With Egg Records and food from Galleria’s wood-fired kitchen.

Violinist and pianist Benet McLean is one of the most highly regarded contemporary musicians in British jazz. His musical depth and exploration of the boundaries between musical genres make him a unique and constantly evolving artist. Inspired in his teens by the great bebop artists of the 1940s, Benet’s playing today reflects his early inspirations while also embracing many other musical influences.
