SUNLIGHT: Creative Drop-In Activities

Drop-in and take part in a range of fun activities inspired by Henry Moore Institute's exhibition SUNLIGHT: Roger Ackling.

This workshop will provide a safe, fun, and creatively stimulating environment for families to explore the themes, materials and processes within our current exhibition through creative play.

Capturing Time: Learn how to print cyanotype with artist Florence Bennett

Discover one of the earliest photographic pro­cesses ever developed and capture shadows, inspired by artist Roger Ackling’s drawings with sunlight.

Using artist Florence Bennett’s ‘homemade’ analogue process, experiment with assembling your own collages to expose prints onto different materials.

The exhibition SUNLIGHT: Roger Ackling has just opened at Henry Moore Institute and is the first survey and most comprehensive exhibition of the work of artist Roger Ackling (1947–2014), one of the most quietly influential artists of the late twentieth century.

The Swan Song Project is a Leeds based charity that helps terminally Ill and bereaved people to write and record original songs. 

Since 2017 the charity has helped over 150 families to write their Swan Songs. They now have a team of songwriters and offer their unique service across the country. They believe in Celebrating Lives, Making Memories and Leaving Legacies.

Heritage Open Day: Minibeast Metropolis

From green roofs to compost heaps, wildlife ponds to dead hedges, join us on a tour of the Hollybush garden to learn about the places minibeasts call home and what we can do to help them feel welcome. 

We’ll have lots of family friendly activities to join in with on the day; unleash your inner architect and design your own wildlife garden, build a bug-hotel from recycled materials, and plant pollinator friendly plants for the spring. If you would like to, you can even come dressed as your favourite minibeast!

Over 55s Intro to Ballet Class

It’s never too late to learn to dance! These classes are a great way to socialise, keep fit and improve posture and flexibility.

Our Over 55s Intro to Ballet Class is designed for those with no previous ballet experience. The class will cover the foundational skills, building key introductory knowledge and vocabulary.
