Bat Walk at Temple Newsam

Meet in the courtyard for tea and biscuits. There is a 1/2 hr natural history slide talk followed by a quiz and some videos. After an introduction to the use of Bat detectors there is a guided walk approximately two miles in length.

The route is reasonably accessible mostly on tarmac paths. A variety of roosting and feeding habitats are covered. In the past about five species of bat have been encountered engaged in a variety of natural behaviour.

The walk will finish back at the house at about 10am but families with very young children may want to make this shorter.

The Smyths

A three night residency, spanning the career of The Smiths.

A tribute? Yes, but probably the nearest thing you'll get to seeing THE SMITHS play live.

"The Men Who Would Be Morrissey" - The Independent

The Smyths are mentioned in a new book about Johnny Marr - "Johnny Marr, The Smiths & the art of gun-slinging" - by Richard Carman.

"Aaah, the finest Smiths trib around. The Smyths take the Gannon era rockin' rumble and pound out the songs so artfully the word 'tribute' may be trite. And Mozzer IS Mozzer!" - from Bugbear newsletter

Listeners were drawn to the trio’s unique take on modern metal, which stripped everything down to a sludgy sound that felt brutish and artful at the same time. After signing to Relapse Records, High on Fire let loose the celebrated Surrounded By Thieves on May 28, 2002.
