Summer of Nature

Come along to Leeds Industrial Museum during the summer school holidays and get your magnifying glasses at the ready as you hunt for the wildlife that has found its way into the museum. Join the family nature trail to see how many you can spot, then take away a craft to do at home!

And while you’re here, why not catch a family film in our tiny cinema, every day at 2pm?

See the Summer of Nature workshops on selected Tuesdays and Thursdays in July and August for more nature fun!

Summer of Nature workshops

Join us for nature themed workshops on selected days during the summer school holidays.

Have a go at making a bug house, leaf printing, wildlife collages and more. Get creative while you learn about the different plants and animals that live near the museum. Some workshops will take place outside in our beautiful Colour Garden (weather dependent).

While you’re here, don’t forget to spot the animals in the museum in our Nature Trail, and catch a family film in our tiny cinema.

Sculpting Royalty: Hew Locke and Mary Thornycroft

What happens when the work of a Victorian royal sculptor quite literally clashes with a twenty-first century reframing of monarchy and memorialisation?

This display takes as its starting point the recent acquisition of Hew Locke’s Souvenir 10 (Princess Alexandra) 2019 for the Leeds collection, a reworked Parian ware bust of Princess Alexandra of Denmark produced after a marble original by Mary Thornycroft.
