Adel St John's Conservation Area Walk

Join local historians Wendy Grisedale and Val Crompton for a guided walk around the Adel Conservation Area.

This flat circular walk lasts about one and three-quarter hours and includes Adel Church and the Old Adel Rectory, York Gate House, Long Causeway and old cottages, old Adel Smithy and the old Adel School building. The walk will end at Adel Church which will be open for those who wish to visit between 13.45 and 16.00

Humphry Repton was the leading landscape gardener of his generation; discover the legacy of his work at Armley for Benjamin Gott.

Gotts Park Mansion was the home of Benjamin Gott, owner of Armley Mills and a leading figure in the Industrial Revolution. The Mansion is set in stunning parkland designed by Humphry Repton and is now the clubhouse for a golf course. 

Your guides will be Clive Walton who is Head Greenkeeper, Secretary and Director of Gotts Park Golf Club and Dr Patrick Eyres author of 'On the Spot: The Yorkshire Red Books of Humphry Repton'.

The Architecture of Landscape: Humphry Repton's Commission for John Blayds Esq

Dr Patrick Eyres will talk about the work of Humphry Repton at Oulton Hall.

Dr Patrick Eyres is the author of 'On the Spot: The Yorkshire Red Books of Humphry Repton, Landscape Gardener'. Repton was renowned for creating the Red Book - his unique mode of presenting design proposals in the form of exquisite one-off artworks exclusively for his patron.

Architecture and Faith Connections: Jamia Masjid Abu Huraira (Mosque)

This splendid mosque, built in 2018, with one of the largest chandeliers in Leeds, invites you to discover the architecture and the faith, customs and culture of Islam. Timed to allow a follow on visit to the nearby GNNSJ Gurudwara (Sikh).

The tour will explain the history of this impressive mosque, the high quality of the building materials used, the symbolism on the bronze doors and throughout the building. There are five floors used for prayers which can accommodate 1000 people each Friday. The main floor has the aforementioned chandelier.

Leeds International Piano Competition Open Season: Open Mic Events

Join the Leeds International Piano Competition for fun, inclusive and engaging piano based open-mics events at Leeds Playhouse as part of Open Season.

Both events will feature a headliner and then anyone is welcome to turn up and play or perform at the piano to a friendly audience. Participants can either play on their own or perform with someone else for example as a singer and an accompanist.
