You are warmly and heartily invited to join us for a warm and hearty community roast bring a dish dinner with all of the OSA families!
Open Source Arts is deliberately diverse, working across art forms – and the times when we can come together to meet and celebrate are so important to us. Before Covid, we invited yearly winter roast dinners so we could feast, meet and celebrate – and now we are bringing it back!
Warm up and Celebrate Together
Come one, come all, to celebrate being alive together. We have made it through another year, and many amazing creative and inspiring things have happened!
We hope you I’ll enjoy a good hearty dinner, with plenty of time to met other folks, share your stories of the year, warm up and enjoy some company. Let’s celebrate another year together!
We will make a few feast fundamentals, such as roast potatoes, roasted roots and gravy. This is the base we would love to invite you to bring a dish and build upon, to create a real feast we can all share together. Together we will make a feast to remember. Vegetarian / vegan foods all welcome. If you can, please write a little label with allergens listen, so people know what they are getting themselves in for.
We want to say a huge thanks to you all for contributing to the arts, culture, and community and social justice communities of Leeds. What you do makes a huge difference, and we’re honoured to be able to host you in our venue in Kirkstall. Watching performances, sharing passionate spoken word, exploring social issues through movement and sound, taking photos, hanging from the rafters, and much more, contribute to an active arts and community sector in Leeds.
The Aire Place Mills site with the Open Source Arts venue and studios is up for redevelopment. This may be the last winter we spend here, so let’s make some more good memories together before we go to pastures new.
What to bring
You are welcome to bring some food to contribute to the feast. Homemade, and shop bought are all welcome, no judgement here! Vegetarian/Vegan food only thanks. If homemade, please write the ingredients and any allergens down.
Please do not bring your own drinks. Our reasonably priced bar upstairs helps fund this independent creative space, and support community activity such as this, so every drink purchase truly does make a difference.
It’s winter and it’s a large space, so bring your warm jumper, and maybe an extra layer too.
Let us know if you’re coming
Please register in advance so we get an idea of how many people will be attending to set up enough chairs and make enough roasties.
By financially contributing, you help ensure events like this can happen again and support grassroots creative communities to survive and thrive. Without ticket and bar sales, these events wouldn’t be possible. We are a self-funded, independent arts venue, and whilst we often subsidise community rooted activities to take place, ticket sales help us to break even on our running costs. There will also be donation buckets on the day to contribute if you wish. You only need to register once!
Who is this event for?
We invite all those who have been involved with Open Source Arts, Yorkshire Circus, the marquees and production events in any way. We invite old friends and new. You’re welcome if you’ve never visited and are curious.
Families and children are welcome.
Alcohol and hot and cold non-alcoholic drinks will be being served in the cafe bar (we do not expect alcohol to be a significant feature of the evening).
You are welcome to arrive from 5pm to help set up.
NB All food is consumed at your own risk, we are not liable for any of the ingredients or hygiene of the foods contributed and kitchens cooked in.

Access
There are two gender neutral toilets on the ground floor, one is accessible. We have baby changing facilities in the accessible toilet. You are welcome to breastfeed your baby here.
Open Source Arts is accessed via a slightly uneven floor outside. The main door is about a metre in width and 5 metres in height. The venue is split over two floors, with access to the upstairs (housing the cafe and dance studio spaces) via a staircase of 14 stairs with hand banisters on both sides, which unfortunately is not currently wheelchair accessible.
We have very limited parking on site – which is reserved for those who must drive for access.
If you require a free place for a personal assistant or have any other accessibility questions, please get in touch with us in good time before you intend to arrive and we will do our best to help.
