Leeds one and only Youth Circus Club! (Running since 1980s, formally called Leeds Childrens Circus). 

Friday nights after school, 5.30-7pm. Suitable for ages 8-18. Supervised and instructed circus skill training.

For kids who want to learn circus skills, or those who already know some and want to expand further. For chances to perform in our yearly shows and at festivals/events. As well as for kids looking for friends who love to get stuck into a new hobby!

A non-competeative activity that exercises the brain as well as the body, perfecting balance, co-ordination, skill and determination. Our club is light hearted and full of fun, but we take skill seriously and our teachers are some of the best circus performers in the country. We frequently bring in special guests and unique skill sets. Circus is a rich and varied skill set, that compliments those taking sports such as gymnastics/parkour/martial arts. But is also an art form allowing creativity and expression, perfect for those dipping their toes into performance or stage craft. 

We have a structure to our classes as follows: time for learning the weeks themed new skill, then time for personal training or practise to get better at our favourite skills, and then a free play time where we can be silly, be sleepy, be super hyper or super creative. Our sessions provide a balance of focused work and creative down time to give kids the chance to play and explore. Always supervised and guided by our professional staff. We are never forceful or strict, and our speciality is bringing creative and unique kids out of their shell and giving them a community, confidence and chances to shine. SCOPE approved and supported by SENSE and staff trained in SEN care.

We have one of the largest circus equipment collections in the country and children can learn a variety of circus skills with us. Every week we will have the option to try:

Juggling: balls, rings, scarves, clubs, hats
Flow toys: poi, flower stick, staff, devil stick, hula hoop
Contact toys: staff, contact ball, isolation hoop
Diabolo: fixed and bearing axel options
Manipulation skill toys: yoyo, kendama, astorjax
Wheel toys: unicycles, cyclocycles, clown bikes, penny farthings, roller skates, s-boards, wobble boards
Unique toys: pogo sticks, rola bola, stilts

Then each week has a theme and some will mean we bring out or use specialised equipment, a few popular examples include:

Tight-wire walking
Jump rope and skipping skill tricks
Combat practise and sword fighting
Aerial trapeze and silk taster
Clown skills
Comedy skills and drama games
Walking globe
Knife and fire juggling
Lesson in circus history and culture

At the end of each half term we do a SPECIAL EVENING THEME of either a spooky glow in the dark party, christmas talent show, international guests, free circus big top tickets, easter egg hunt, end of school year show or a form of themed treat.
