What is Kuluhenna Drama?
Kuluhenna Drama is a free, weekly women’s drama group run by Mafwa Theatre every Thursday morning in Leeds.
Open to women from all communities – including asylum seekers, refugees, and local residents – the group offers a warm, joyful space to build confidence, move your body, and express yourself through theatre and storytelling.
Sessions are a great way to:
-Meet new people
-Develop performance skills
-Grow your confidence
-Get creative and have a laugh
Each week, participants come together to play games, move, speak, and share in a relaxed, supportive environment. Sessions are led by friendly, experienced facilitators, and are easy to follow no matter your English level or previous experience.
New faces are always welcome. If you’re looking for a space to connect, express yourself and have fun, come along.
Creche available. Refreshments provided.
The group is free to attend, but new participants should sign up online before their first session: www.mafwatheatre.co.uk/sign-up

What participants say:
"I made new friends. I am more confident to speak with other people. I was lonely at home. Now I know some people"
"I didn’t feel shy or embarrassed...I loved performing...and had so
much fun with the other woman I had to do it with. If you met me before Mafwa Theatre, I would say no to everything. I never think I would be able to do all this…now I tell myself: You can do it!"
"We spend time here playing. We have fun and enjoy. I was not confident to speak in front of people but I can now speak"
