Mon 14 Oct 2024 - Sat 19 Oct 2024

A celebration of the violin in various guises throughout Leeds in concerts, film, workshops, walking tours and more. In partnership with music organisations in Leeds, and with premieres featuring violinists of all ages and a wide range of music.

The Red Violin is the brainchild of internationally acclaimed violinist Madeleine Mitchell, with Lord Menuhin as Founder Patron and Lord Michael Berkeley as the new President. The title is taken from 'Le Violon Rouge' paintings by Dufy and Pougny, before the eponymous film - which will be shown with live performances.

Featuring the London Chamber Ensemble, violinists Chloe Hanslip, David and Tom Greed, Jonian Kadescha, Shing Hong Chow, Sarah Brandwood-Spencer and Mitchell herself plus the Caerus Quartet, Sian Griffiths, Indian and Roma violinists.
