We invite you to ‘Strings Together’ featuring two maestros on North and South Indian Violin. A unique evening celebrating the violin, an instrument renowned across the world which has been adapted by each country to express rich vibrant stories through bowing of strings which touch the soul of each person who listens or feels the vibrations. Sri Kamalbir Singh and Sir Vijay Venkat are maestros of violin played in South Asian style, Kamalbir Ji specialising in Hindustani (North Indian Music) and Venkat in Carnatic (South Indian Music).
Enjoy a pre-show talk and discover the history behind the Indian Violin, followed by an immersive evening of music synonymous with South and North on the Indian subcontinent as well as a new composition inspired by pioneering composers, Baluswami Dikshitar (1786-1859), who introduced violin into Carnatic music, and Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827).
