Who Am I When I’m With You? The debut solo show from Coventry born artist and Assembly House resident Kai Brooks examines human connection through the medium of paint. 

“This last year, more than any other, l've felt life change so quickly, people coming and going - new faces. Missing faces that aren't around so often anymore. Does that painting become a relic once you're gone? An old portrait is no longer a token of gratitude but a record of something that was. Either way, every minute that you sat opposite me as I painted will be held on that canvas.”

The exhibition is a collection of self portraits and portraits of loved ones. With an emphasis on painting from life, Kai hopes to encourage people to treasure the fleeting moments we all share.
