Webinar: Raising Empowered Multilingual Readers by Yoshito Darmon-Shimamori
You know that reading in a home language matters. You may have read the research, books and advice—but how do you actually make it work with your own child? In this practical workshop, author, multilingual literacy specialist and foreign languages teacher Yoshito Darmon-Shimamori shares strategies developed through both his professional work and his experience raising two multilingual sons, now pre-teens and teens. Whether your child speaks the language but struggles to read it, isn't interested in reading, or is becoming less motivated as they get older, you will discover practical approaches, do's and don'ts, and concrete activities you can try at home with primary and secondary-aged children. Yoshito is the author of books helping families develop home-language literacy and the organiser and host of The Grand Multi-literacy Event, an annual online conference dedicated to multilingual literacy.
Yoshito Darmon-Shimamori is a multilingual literacy specialist, author and foreign languages teacher based in London.
