This week it's Transgender Day of Remembrance, an annual observance on 20 November that honours the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence.
TransLeeds and TransPrideLeeds are working with Leeds Teaching Hospitals to hold a candlelight vigil this Wednesday 20 November at 6pm, Great George Street Entrance, Leeds General Infirmary.
Refreshments and buffet, alongside a pop-up exhibition, followed by speakers from various organisations that are committed to supporting trans and non-binary communities.
The evening will be led by our trans and non-binary community and welcomes allies to attend to reflect and pay respects.
"Transgender Day of Remembrance seeks to highlight the losses we face due to anti-transgender bigotry and violence. I am no stranger to the need to fight for our rights, and the right to simply exist is first and foremost. With so many seeking to erase transgender people, sometimes in the most brutal ways possible, it is vitally important that those we lose are remembered, and that we continue to fight for justice."
