As we head into winter for 2024, we wanted to take this opportunity to invite you to the Yorkshire Circus Winter showcase.
Normally every year we try to host an open fire jam as an opportunity to come together as a community and celebrate the year, but this time we wanted to add more of what Yorkshire Circus does and celebrate what has been an amazing year for our performers, workshop leaders and all the participants that have taken part in our sessions both in our space and across the country.
The evening will open with a showcase by some of the participants at our regular sessions alongside some work-in-progress routines by performers and practitioners in various disciplines across the Leeds circus community. Followed by a short intermission for our audience to grab a plate of hot food, a drink or just have a play in our LED and glow workshop area downstairs (complete with a lot of mirrors for some fabulous visual effects) we will head outside, around the fire and open the stage for fire and LED performers to jam along to our DJs.
Throughout the evening we will have a pop-up kitchen hosted by Funcho! serving food including chafana and bonfire ice cream, alongside our bar which will be open for hot and cold drinks.
The evening will be a fantastic opportunity to support so many individuals who have worked hard throughout this year to develop their craft and for many will be debuting work in front of an audience for the first time so come help us support and cheer them all on!
We are asking attendees to please plan to walk or cycle to Open Source Arts when attending our events. Not only is it friendlier to our environment and less disruptive. We also will have extremely limited parking on site due to our new layout, parking spots are only available for those with additional accessibility needs so please be respectful of that before planning your trip.
If you plan to come for the first time and perform fire then we please ask that you fill out one of our disclaimers BEFORE attending.
Fire twirling is dangerous. By coming to this space, we expect you to be respectful, safe and careful, to yourself, others and the environment. You will be responsible for your own activity here, and you take part and watch at your own risk. Our safety crew and fire marshals will be on hand and brief you with all the important stuff, they are also there to answer your questions so please don’t be shy they don’t bite (mostly)
If you have any questions or queries in the meantime please don’t hesitate to get in contact with us. We can’t wait to see you all again and hope you are excited as we are to be back twirling fire under the night sky.
