Pinnies, petticoats, booties and breeches – historic children’s clothing may look restrictive or uncomfortable compared to that of today. But discover how practicality has always been in vogue when it comes to dressing the next generation.
Lotherton’s new family-friendly exhibition for 2025 explores the history of children’s fashion from the 1600s to modern day. See the changing styles worn by babies through to teens and what they can tell us about society’s attitudes towards growing up. Discover the development of the ‘teenager’ and how the onesie is not as modern as you may think!
This exhibition is located in Lotherton Hall and is included in estate admission (free for members).
