SOUNDBITES – Monthly Poetry Open Mic

Readings by a different local published poet each month. This month we’re delighted to welcome PATRICK LODGE.

Patrick lives in Yorkshire, but is an Irish citizen with family roots in Wales, and a sense of searching for home has permeated his poetry.

He will be mostly reading from ‘There You Are’, his fourth collection with Valley Press, which was published in spring 2026 and which searches widely from his home in Leeds, through the Outer Hebrides, Greece, Ireland and Wales. It includes an extended love poem in the form of a sonnet sequence based on a Tarot reading.

Patrick’s work has been published in several countries and he has read at poetry festivals in England, Scotland, Ireland, Kosovo and Italy.

He has been successful in several local and international competitions, including winning the ‘Poetry on the Lake’ short story competition.
