This workshop invites participants to write creatively in any language they wish in a relaxed, guided environment. We will be responding to creative writing prompts about climate breakdown, working to consider the many languages - of feeling, of ecology, of time, and of justice - that we are navigating together when we try to communicate what is happening. Participants will be led through a series of activities to respond creatively, in discussion and on the page, with the opportunity to share work in a digital pamphlet emerging from the session.
Led by writer and Leeds university lecturer S.K. Perry, this workshop will be a relaxed evening of creative writing in whatever language you choose. Through discussion, reading, and guided activities, participants will respond to prompts considering the language of climate breakdown, and will offer a space to put the feelings we have - as we consider it - into words.
S.K. Perry is a fiction writer and poet, who works as a lecturer at the University of Leeds. Sarah's debut novel Let Me Be Like Water was longlisted for the Ondaatje Prize and chosen for Brighton Festival's City Reads pick.
This event is part of Leeds City of Languages Festival and is delivered in collaboration with Leeds Libraries.
