Centuries after humanity vanished, two ageing androids drift through what's left of the galaxy, Karel, older and more fluent in human contradiction, and Peck, still learning what a well-placed contraction can do to a sentence. When their ship's scanners pick up a signal from a long-lost human colony ship, the pair face something they were built for but never expected to survive: the return of their god.

A quiet, philosophical two-hander about service, sentience, and what's left of you once the purpose you built yourself is handed back. Threaded through with quotations from Blake and Tennyson, and a slow unravelling of what "human" even means when there's no one left to ask.
