The fifth annual Farsley Lit Fest will take place between the 12th October and 23rd November, brought to you by Truman Books and The Old Woollen. Once again, the team from the village bookshop and events venue are bringing a wide range of fantastic authors in a series of over 25 talks, discussions and events to Farsley, across six weeks this autumn.

Alongside the headlining authors, the festival offers everything from a live flower arranging demo with a celebrated florist, to an evening with David Lascelles: Earl of Harewood who will reveal an astonishing true family story from the Second World War. There’s a poetry evening that will delve into what it means to be northern, a discussion on grief with much-loved actor Greg Wise and a performance of the John Steinbeck classic, ‘Of Mice and Men’.

The festival includes a Crime Day featuring not only author panels but the opportunity for you to try your hand at solving a crime in a fun hands-on session.

There’s also a writing for wellness workshop, the Book Lover’s Quiz and the youngest members of the family will have the opportunity to attend four different events on Children’s Day during October half-term, which include storytelling, story-writing and illustrating activities.

Renowned Food Critic Jay Rayner is returning to Leeds where he studied at university, for an intimate evening, to celebrate the publication of his new cookbook, Nights Out In The Kitchen. John Boyne, author of The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, is one of the most successful and critically acclaimed novelists of his generation. He’ll be in Farsley to chat about his life, his writing career and his new book. The extraordinarily talented and Yorkshire-born Joanne Harris - bestselling author of Chocolat – will introduce her new, chilling winter ghost story.

There’s lots to be discovered at Farsley Lit Fest, with tickets already selling fast and organisers urging visitors to book soon to avoid disappointment. More information and tickets available here.
