Marina Barham - A Voice for Theatre & Culture in Palestine
Marina, the Director of Al-Harah Theatre in Bethlehem will share the powerful story of the theatre's impactful work in Palestine, and the role of theatre in helping children, young people and the community overcome trauma.
Introduced by Dani Abulhawa, Lecturer in Contemporary Applied Performance, University of Leeds
Established in 2005, Al-Harah have presented highly artistic and accessible productions throughout Palestine, the Arab world and abroad.
Their work includes community productions, Capacity Building for Artists and programmes to empower women and people with disabilities.
In light of the current extreme violence, they are particularly focusing on psychodrama activities for 8-12 year olds, to help them express their feelings and learn how to cope with the traumas they have endured.
Al Harah Theatre have always collaborated with international theatres and hope to forge new partners on the current UK tour.
