Northlight in Collaboration with multi-media artist Goda Stan is bringing a workshop for those who want to give their loved items a new lease of life. During it participants will be rescuing pre-loved lampshades from charity shops and getting a taste of what it means to upcycle. Rather than letting everyday objects gather dust or eventually end up in landfill, participants will turn them into something personal, a little unexpected and full of character.
There will be various materials available including beautiful fabrics, earthy textures, lino printing, preserved moss, beads, buttons and ornamental tassels. There’ll be all sorts of lovely bits and pieces to experiment with, so participants will be able to follow an idea they’ve had for ages or just see where the materials take them.
There will be opportunities to create something wild and wonderfully eclectic, something soft and natural, or something simple that brings a little joy to a corner of every home. There really won't be many rules, just a lot of exploration with help from the leading artist.
You don’t need to be an artist, particularly crafty, or have any experience at all to join. This is about enjoying the process, getting your hands busy, having a play and giving yourself permission to try something new. Your lampshade can be as simple or as elaborate as you like.
