For one night only, expect our building to be pumping with a programme filled with the red stuff (and we don’t mean roses). Join us for an anti-valentine evening like no other, one that embraces the visceral life force of all beating hearts: blood!
This Thackray Late will be in full flow, with our usual blend expert talks and hands-on demonstrations, plus crafts, performances, and a chance to get up close to bloody brilliant objects from our museum collection.
Whether you want to celebrate the love you have for yourself, fancy a curious night out with your best friend, whether you’re a lover or a hater, this is a take on romance that isn’t for the faint of heart.
Full programme to be announced soon.
Thackray Lates is our regular series of adult-only evening events – join us as we explore unusual topics and untold stories with the help of special guests, hands-on experiences, medical experiments, performances and more.
Due to the nature of the event, these are experience tickets (so annual passes and other museum tickets are not valid). This event is recommended for those aged 18+. Please note there will be alcohol available at this event.

Access
Access to the museum
We want everyone to enjoy the museum. It is fully wheelchair and buggy accessible, entry is free for essential companions, and we welcome assistance dogs (and our team are more than happy to arrange a bowl of water for hard-working thirsty dogs – please just ask).
The museum offers quiet openings on the last Sunday of each month from 10am–11am when the lights will be up and the sounds down. You can download a copy of our gallery map, which includes some sensory information and other details here.
