Come along to Chapel FM to watch two short films exploring the work of artists in Leeds who are responding to social injustice through creativity.
The first film to be screened is The Way Up Is Down, which follows the journey of Hungarian sculptor Leon Varga, the installation of his oversized sculpture in a sacred space in Armley, and the reaction from the congregation.
The second film, The Chair of Sanctuary, featured at Chapel FM’s ‘Writing on Air’ festival last year and is back again at Chapel FM to keep the conversations going, exploring creativity and social justice through poetry, film-making and the re-upholstery of an ex-display chair. Follow the journey of five women of faith as they come together to create a piece of art you can sit in and reflect what sanctuary means to them.
This event is part of Leeds Church Institute’s Art Theology Festival 2025.
This venue is fully wheelchair accessible.
Please note alcohol will be served at this event.
