Richard Linklater’s Before trilogy was filmed over 18 years, and follows the same couple, Céline and Jesse (played by Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke) as they meet, fall in and out of love, and travel through some of Europe’s most glamorous locations.

Before Sunrise takes place on a single night in Vienna, where the couple first encounter each other, and wander the streets of the Austrian capital till dawn. They promise to meet again in 6 months…

Before Sunset sees Céline and Jesse meeting by chance once again, this time in Paris, but after nine years instead of the promised six months. Both have moved on with their lives, and Jesse has a family in the US. Meeting at the Shakespeare & Company bookshop on the Left Bank, they reconnect as they walk the timeless streets.

Nine years after the events of Before Sunset, in Before Midnight, we encounter Céline and Jesse as a couple, with twin girls. On holiday in the south of Greece they assess their lives, their fulfilled and unfulfilled ambitions, and their hopes for the future, in the conclusion of the trilogy.
