SOUNDBITES – Monthly Poetry Open Mic
Live in the Assembly Bar + Kitchen!
Readings by a different local published poet each month and this month it’s Kev the Poet.
Kev The Poet was born in Liverpool and began writing poetry in the early 90’s, after
reading The Mersey Poets and a bout of unrequited love. He began again in 2022
as a response to the incipient rise of fascism.
His work has been called poems of ‘angst, disdain and scorn, but also heart, honesty
and humanity’ ‘passion, politics and a pen that pulls no punches’ and ‘sharp, soulful
and utterly unmissable’.
He has appeared on BBC Radio 2, BBC Devon/Cornwall GWS Radio, Express FM
and contributes a weekly poem to Shaun Keavney’s show on Community Garden Radio.
He has also been published in the US poetry magazine Shine and Manchester’s
Urban Scrawl, which is devoted to poetry, stories, art and photography about cities.
