Beneath an East London pub, guarded landlord Charles seduces Dwight, a young American GI, risking everything for a secret night together. But when an air raid sends friends, family and strangers rushing into the cellar for shelter, staying hidden becomes increasingly difficult.

Funny, sexy and full of surprises, Sirens is a new play about desire, secrecy and survival, and finding moments of freedom in a world that refuses to let you live openly.

Written and directed by Leeds Playhouse Artistic Director Tom Wright, Sirens continues his work putting LGBTQ+ stories and characters centre stage. His previous plays include Please Please Me at Kiln Theatre and My Dad’s Gap Year at Park Theatre, with his writing described by Gay Times as having its “finger firmly on the pulse” and by The Guardian as “simultaneously entertaining, provoking and unsettling”.
