A calm, welcoming monthly space for readers who love books (and people) but don’t always love the pressure of traditional book clubs.
This is a free gathering where you bring your own book, read quietly for around 45 minutes, and then stay for relaxed, optional conversation afterwards.
No assigned reading.
No awkward icebreakers.
No pressure to perform.
Just books, a warm space, and like-minded company.
Hosted upstairs at Further North in Chapel Allerton, this is a chance to slow down midweek and carve out intentional reading time, while also building community.
The format:
• Arrive, order a drink if you’d like
• A short welcome and intention-setting
• 45 minutes of quiet reading
• Optional relaxed conversation afterwards
You’re free to stay and chat or head off quietly. Both are equally welcome.
This book club is for you if:
You love reading but struggle to make time for it
You feel intimidated by traditional book clubs
You’ve recently moved to Leeds and want to meet thoughtful people
You want low-pressure community
All genres welcome. All readers welcome. Fiction, nonfiction, poetry, audiobooks (with headphones) — it all counts.
Tickets are £5, with a small number of 'pay as you feel' tickets available to keep the event accessible for everyone.
Your ticket also includes a 10% discount on a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks* available at the bar.
I can’t wait to welcome you.
