Leeds Guild of Singers will perform a special Christmas concert on Saturday 7 December at 3pm at St Michael’s Church in the heart of Headingley.
LGS is one of Yorkshire's finest chamber choirs, recently praised in audience feedback for its "wonderful purity of tone, accuracy of pitch and clarity of diction", and will perform an enchanting selection of works from the Christmas choral repertoire, which will surely warm your heart on a December afternoon.
You’ll enjoy music from a wide range of musical eras and styles, from Gregorian chant to barber shop jazz and everything in between, with works from well-known composers Dame Judith Weir (former Master of the Queen's Music) and Sir James Macmillan, alongside festive pieces that you’ve almost certainly never heard before. The choir will sing the rousing "Wassail!" composed by one of its own members, Alistair Wood, and there will be the opportunity for you to join in the singing of much-loved carols. Not to be missed!
Tickets for adults are £15, available online in advance via Tickets below, or on the door, by cash or card. Entry for students and under 18s is free, as we encourage young people to enjoy live classical music.
Proceeds will go to the church funds and its charity appeals. The performance will last just over an hour, followed by seasonal refreshments in the church.
Whether you’re an LGS aficionado or you haven’t been to one of these concerts before, you’ll be very welcome!
