Please join us for an evening private view of I Never Agreed to Lend My Voice – a new exhibition featuring work by eleven MA Fine Art students at the University of Leeds.
I Never Agreed to Lend My Voice exhibits experimentation, collaboration and discovery from emerging artists challenging notions of voice, identity, environment and politics.
In a world where artists’ ownership of their own work is increasingly under threat, this exhibition embodies our desire to not only own our own work, but our own narratives, identities, and practices.
The title, drawn from a spontaneous conversation in the studio, captures a growing sentiment among us of defiance; a rejection of silencing and censorship.
As a group of MA Fine Art students, we’ve spent time together navigating our identities as artists, pushing boundaries, and rethinking what it means to be seen and heard. This exhibition Voice’ boldly explores the power and authenticity of our voices through multidisciplinary, experimental, and unapologetically personal works which reframe traditional media while carving out new paths in contemporary art.
More than just an exhibition, this is an ongoing conversation, a declaration that each artist in their own way has something to say — and no one else will speak for them.
