The Instituto Cervantes in Leeds, together with the Leeds City of Languages Festival, invites you to an evening of poetry with acclaimed Spanish poet Abraham Gragera, in conversation with Dr Neil Sadler.
The event will feature a bilingual reading of Gragera’s poetry, followed by a conversation exploring his creative process, his journey as a poet, and the relationship between poetry on the page and poetry read aloud. The discussion will also consider what happens when poetry moves between languages and the challenges and possibilities involved in translating his work into English.
There will be an opportunity for the audience to join the conversation and ask questions, offering a unique chance to hear directly from the poet about his work, poetry, translation and contemporary literature.
The event will be in English, with poetry readings in Spanish accompanied by English translations.
In partnership with the Instituto Cervantes.
