The sea is raging. So are they.

In the claustrophobic world of a tight-knit coastal community, fisherman Peter Grimes stands as a deeply troubled outsider. When a young boy dies at sea under his care, Grimes is legally cleared of guilt, yet the community's suspicions and hostility continue to mount. As tensions escalate, Grimes becomes increasingly volatile and vulnerable, trapped between his own inner turmoil and the growing menace of collective anger.

Benjamin Britten's landmark opera comes to life through the exceptional musicianship of Opera North's renowned orchestra. Live on stage, the music brilliantly captures both the raw beauty and unforgiving nature of the sea, creating an immersive experience that brings the story's emotional intensity directly to the audience. This is opera at its most powerful - a visceral journey that surrounds you with sound and drama.

Phyllida Lloyd's critically acclaimed production reveals the human story behind the music, exploring themes of isolation, paranoia, and social persecution. This is a living, breathing theatrical experience that transforms the stage into a world of raw emotion and musical storytelling.
