Seamlessly combining the instrumentation and complex expression of traditional textures with contemporary forms and sounds, Park Jiha has developed a sound that's all her own which includes classical minimalism and improvised music using traditional Korean instruments like the Piri (a double-reed flute), Saenghwang (bamboo mouth organ), and Yanggeum (a hammered dulcimer).
Her last album, ‘The Gleam’ took us through an immersive sound experience at an emotional level picturing the interference we have with Light throughout the day. The Guardian says, “The beauty of Jiha’s work lies in the spaces she leaves”.
