After artist Roger Ackling (1947–2014) died, his archive was gifted to the Archive of Sculptors' Papers, so it is now in Leeds Museums and Galleries' collection, housed at Henry Moore Institute.
Some of this rich collection is currently on display in the exhibition SUNLIGHT: Roger Ackling, on display at Henry Moore Institute until 22 June 2025.
As it's one of our largest collections, we can't fit everything we've got into the galleries, so instead we're giving you the opportunity to take a closer look and get hands-on with these fascinating materials.
Join Archivist Errin Hussey in the Research Library on Wednesday 30 April & Wednesday 4 June 2025, 17:30–18:30 to look at how Ackling's ideas, processes and inspirations developed throughout his life, with a chance to see sketchbooks, photographs, travel journals and so much more. Exploring Ackling’s archive opens up a whole new understanding of the artist and his incredible work.
