Moortown Community Group (MCG) and Friends of Moortown Park (FoMP), two local volunteer groups, are working together to deliver a Moortown Festival, to be held on Sunday 12th July at Moortown Park, forming part of the Leeds 400 celebrations! We are very much looking forward to bringing the community together for this special occasion.
Moortown is a celebrated suburb of Leeds rich in cultural diversity much like the whole of Leeds and it does have some claims to fame in it’s history such as golf’s very first Ryder Cup to be held on European soil, where the England Footballer David Batty and accomplished artist Damien Hirst grew up to name but a few!
To celebrate the part Moortown has played in Leeds history a Moortown Festival will be taking place at our beloved Moortown park on Sunday 12th July from 2pm until 7pm. We will be celebrating and connecting through live music and performances from local Moortown talent, stalls, food & drink and activities for children, young adults and the more mature. The more provided just by our fantastic Moortown multicultural community the better!
Of course these don’t happen by themselves and the festival is being orchestrated jointly between our two volunteer groups, and we are looking for further ideas, sponsorship and participation so if you want to contribute any of these please contact us via moortownfestival@gmail.com to help create a successful and highly enjoyable festival!
See you there!
