Cellist Matthew Barley presents Light Stories, a multimedia performance that shares a personal narrative through sound and visuals.

Inspired by the classic storytelling structure of Voyage and Return, Barley has divided his own life experiences into 15 chapters, each represented by a piece of music. Some are drawn from his existing repertoire, while others were newly composed for this project.

Barley's musical palette encompasses multi-tracked cellos, synthesizers, percussion, and a collection of Brazilian bird-call pipes, creating a rich, textural soundscape. Accompanying the music is video design by Yeast Culture, featuring dancer Mavin Khoo, which adds a human element to the nature-inspired imagery.
