Make a splash: A queer led evening at the baths
Come and spend a relaxed, joyful evening at the Baths with history, water, movement and community at its heart.
This LGBTQIA+ centred session is all about showing up as you are, having a go, and enjoying the space together — whether that’s learning something new about the Baths, floating your way through an aqua class, or just chatting and winding down with others.
No pressure. No expectations. Just good vibes, warm water and shared space.
How the Evening Flows
4:15pm – Arrivals & Hellos
Arrive via the steam room and get welcomed by the team. We’ll have a few historic objects from the Baths out on display — have a wander, have a look, have a chat.
4:30pm – 5:00pm | Heritage Tour
A friendly, accessible tour exploring the stories and history of the Baths told with curiosity, not lectures.
5:00pm – 5:30pm | Get Changed & Get Ready
Time to change, take things at your own pace, and get ready for the pool.
5:30pm – 6:30pm | Aqua, Chill & Socialise
A fun aqua aerobics session (around 45 minutes), followed by time to float, relax, chat and enjoy the water together.
You’re welcome to dip in and out as this isn’t about pushing yourself, it’s about enjoying the experience.
Access & looking out for each other
We want this event to work for as many people as possible.
Some parts of the heritage tour use a balcony level. If you’re disabled or have access requirements, letting us know when you book helps the Baths team plan and make adjustments where they can. While advance notice really helps, access arrangements can’t always be guaranteed for people who attend without booking or prior contact.
If you’re unsure or want to talk things through, just get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.
Voice Matters
At the end of the session, we’ll have a very informal, optional chat — nothing heavy, no forms, no pressure.
It’s simply a chance to share:
- what you enjoyed
- what you’d love to see more of
- how the Baths can feel even more welcoming for LGBTQIA+ people and other marginalised communities
These conversations feed directly into the Baths’ wider work around inclusion, community involvement, funding, and keeping this space open and accessible for as many people as possible.
Sharing is optional — listening and relaxing is just as valid.
A few things to know
- This is a casual, community led session — no experience needed
- You don’t have to do everything (or anything!) to belong
- Swimwear and towels are needed
- Come solo or with friends — you’ll be welcome either way.
Thanks to funding from Being You Leeds, we’re delivering this event as part of a series of FREE monthly events to celebrate our LGBTQ+ communities. These events are all about getting outdoors, enjoying a bit of physical activity, and connecting with others, while trying something new and creative together.
