The magic of storytelling unites cultures and generations. And for three weeks, it illuminates our city starting here. From award-winning family theatre and acclaimed author readings to costume-making workshops and a city-wide trail - this truly is a festival for everyone!
11am-12noon - Unlock your inner SPORTS STAR and learn all about incredible women in this fact-packed event from Kate Pankhurst – the bestselling creator of the FANTASTICALLY GREAT WOMEN series! Women throughout history have fought for the right to take part, win or lose, in sports across the globe. Whether they were the Lionesses on the pitch who won Euro 2022, or behind the scenes setting up rival games when the Olympics said NO to women, these women are all sporting heroes. Kate Pankhurst’s event will involve dressing up, lots of props and even a draw-along!
11am-2pm - Historical trailblazers from the FANTASTICALLY GREAT WOMEN series will be brought to life by family theatre company Wrongsemble and wander around Central Library to speak to visitors and share their backstories. Also, LIVEwire will be offering surprise pop-up poetry performances on the staircases and among the bookshelves to inspire and entertain! Part of Leeds Storytelling Festival 2025.
A pay-what-you-decide family-friendly event recommended for children aged 6-11. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
