Village and New Dimension are proud to present a new solo exhibition and celebration of the book βππ΅ ππ¦π’π΄π΅ ππ―π΅πͺπ π΅π©π¦ ππ°π³ππ₯ ππ΅π°π±π΄ ππ°πͺπ―π¨ ππ°πΆπ―π₯β by photographer Charlie Tallott at Village, Leeds. The exhibition opens on Friday 16th August from 6pm - 9pm and continues until Sunday 15th September.
βThe images in Charlie Tallottβs new photo book, ππ΅ ππ¦π’π΄π΅ ππ―π΅πͺπ π΅π©π¦ ππ°π³ππ₯ ππ΅π°π±π΄ ππ°πͺπ―π¨ ππ°πΆπ―π₯, are vivid, unflinchingly intimate, and animated with a sense of energy thatβs suggestive of the living world beyond the edges of the frame. Flicking through the debut monograph, the viewer can almost feel the crimson scratches on a boyβs bare back, or the textured strands of wet hair, or the raindrops illuminated by Tallottβs flash. His subjects wear bruises and casts, ripped jeans or nothing at all. The word the Leeds-born, London-based photographer uses for the feeling behind the work? βAgitation.ββ - Dazed
Tallott uses photography as a refuge, capturing snapshots of his daily life and the people around him, revealing the complexity of life through fleeting tender, violent, lonely, and rare moments. His oversaturated aesthetic gives a euphoric yet hazy quality to the images, reflecting half-forgotten memories and stolen glances.
The bookβs title, inspired by his motherβs aphorisms, embodies the idea that all things must pass and serves as a reminder to exist in the moment. Tallottβs work in βππ΅ ππ¦π’π΄π΅ ππ―π΅πͺπ π΅π©π¦ ππ°π³ππ₯ ππ΅π°π±π΄ ππ°πͺπ―π¨ ππ°πΆπ―π₯β won the Photo London Emerging Photographer Award 2024.
