A person sits cross-legged on a patterned couch, wearing black jeans, bright red socks, and black leather loafers. The colorful carpet beneath features a detailed, intricate pattern of red, blue, green, and beige. The shot focuses on the lower half of the body, highlighting the contrast between the red socks and the rest of the muted tones.

Village and New Dimension are proud to present a new solo exhibition and celebration of the book β€œπ˜ˆπ˜΅ π˜“π˜¦π˜’π˜΄π˜΅ 𝘜𝘯𝘡π˜ͺ𝘭 𝘡𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘭π˜₯ 𝘚𝘡𝘰𝘱𝘴 𝘎𝘰π˜ͺ𝘯𝘨 π˜™π˜°π˜Άπ˜―π˜₯” by photographer Charlie Tallott at Village, Leeds. The exhibition opens on Friday 16th August from 6pm - 9pm and continues until Sunday 15th September.

β€œThe images in Charlie Tallott’s new photo book, 𝘈𝘡 π˜“π˜¦π˜’π˜΄π˜΅ 𝘜𝘯𝘡π˜ͺ𝘭 𝘡𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘭π˜₯ 𝘚𝘡𝘰𝘱𝘴 𝘎𝘰π˜ͺ𝘯𝘨 π˜™π˜°π˜Άπ˜―π˜₯, are vivid, unflinchingly intimate, and animated with a sense of energy that’s suggestive of the living world beyond the edges of the frame. Flicking through the debut monograph, the viewer can almost feel the crimson scratches on a boy’s bare back, or the textured strands of wet hair, or the raindrops illuminated by Tallott’s flash. His subjects wear bruises and casts, ripped jeans or nothing at all. The word the Leeds-born, London-based photographer uses for the feeling behind the work? β€œAgitation.”” - Dazed

Tallott uses photography as a refuge, capturing snapshots of his daily life and the people around him, revealing the complexity of life through fleeting tender, violent, lonely, and rare moments. His oversaturated aesthetic gives a euphoric yet hazy quality to the images, reflecting half-forgotten memories and stolen glances.

The book’s title, inspired by his mother’s aphorisms, embodies the idea that all things must pass and serves as a reminder to exist in the moment. Tallott’s work in β€œπ˜ˆπ˜΅ π˜“π˜¦π˜’π˜΄π˜΅ 𝘜𝘯𝘡π˜ͺ𝘭 𝘡𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘭π˜₯ 𝘚𝘡𝘰𝘱𝘴 𝘎𝘰π˜ͺ𝘯𝘨 π˜™π˜°π˜Άπ˜―π˜₯” won the Photo London Emerging Photographer Award 2024.
