Graham Clayton-Chance presents a special installation of his film Last Dance at the Sundance Stompede.
In November 2023, over 800 people from around the globe gathered in San Francisco for the Sundance Stompede, an LGBT+ country-western dance weekend that has been a cornerstone of queer culture for 27 years.
This immersive multi-screen version explores the transformative power of dance in queer spaces through San Francisco’s LGBTQ+ country western dance community. Filmed footage is layered across multiple screens, paired with a soundscape combining an electronic score and intimate insights from dancer interviews. A spatial exploration of documentary, dance, and sonic environments.
Graham Clayton-Chance’s multidisciplinary work explores queer histories, biography and the body often in collaboration with performance and dance artists. His work has been shown at the BFI Flare, the Lincoln Centre, Edinburgh International Festival, Sydney Opera House, The Kitchen (New York) and the National Review of Live Art.
It's free to drop in throughout the festival.
Join Director Graham Clayton-Chance in Conversation as he presents excerpts from the film interwoven with a talk and Q&A on Saturday 31st May at 3.00pm.
This is a free event as part of Collective Encounters, a two-day festival of dance for LGBTQ+ folx and their allies.
