J.R. Ellis is a Yorkshire‑based crime writer best known for his atmospheric, character‑driven mysteries set across the region. A former English teacher with a lifelong love of detective fiction, he brings a deep sense of place and history to every story he writes. In his stories the mystery lies in how the crime was done as well as in who did it!

He is the author of the popular Yorkshire Murder Mysteries series, including The Otley Murders.

To celebrate National Crime Reading Month, he will be joining us at Otley Library to talk about his writing and inspirations, followed by an audience Q&A. Book your space now!
