Jazz at Sela presents a special double bill - stalwarts of the Leeds progressive jazz scene 'Wandering Monster' share the stage with the fiery London based group 'Ken Hoon'.
Leeds-based group Wandering Monster reaches beyond what may be expected from the tried and tested line-up of the tenor saxophone/guitar quintet. The band’s original compositions, penned by double bassist and leader Sam Quintana, draw from a love of American and European jazz, rock and world music, creating a sound that’s simultaneously raucous and sensitive, intense and intellectual. Ken Hoon is the solo jazz project by Jack Yardley, the highly rated award winning drummer and composer based in London. This London-based contemporary jazz-fusion band consists of some of the best up and coming jazz musicians in the UK. The band’s music is a creative mix of ambient soundscapes and heavy rhythmical interplay, bound together by fierce improvisation. The band’s huge sound and relentless energy guarantee a captivating performance.

Sela Bar is a basement venue, accessed via a narrow set of 16 stairs, there is no wheelchair access. There is no disabled toilet. Everything at the venue is on the same level, apart from the stage which is 18cm higher.
There is no parking at the venue. Taxis can drop customers off outside the venue on the opposite side of the road.
