Join us for an unforgettable evening filled with craft, learning and adventure! This exciting event will kick off with a creative block printing session followed by a flash talk about bat myths. Afterwards, we’ll take you on a thrilling bat walk, leaving you in awe of these brilliant creatures. Take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to have fun and make lasting memories!
This event is organised in collaboration with Leeds International African Arts Festival (LIAAF) and the Bat Conservation Trust.
What to expect?
7.30pm - 8.45pm: Creative session - block printing
We will start with a creative warmup. You will have the opportunity to decorate and take home your own clothes, fabric patches or tote bags. Tools, paints and fabric will be provided, but feel free to bring your own materials to print on! This is a beginner-friendly craft, perfect for upcycling old fabrics.
This part will be led by BCT's Volunteer Engagement Officer (and artist) Magnus Gorny, and will include two unique printing bat blocks custom-designed for this event. You can watch a small tutorial about block printing here (Please note: this is not specific to this event): How To Use Indian Printing Blocks (Revisited) - Video Demonstration - The Arty Crafty Place
*Alongside this, anyone is welcome to come to this space if they need a break from the hustle and bustle of the festival. You are welcome to come along and be there, relax and doodle some bats (or anything you want!) using the provided art supplies.
