Don your badges, rally your friends, and join us for a special evening viewing of Animated Activism: Women Empowered.
Exploring the histories of Women's Aid and Leeds Animation Workshop, as told through their own archives, Animated Activism: Women Empowered is an exhibition that will leave you inspired - and angry.
From the Women’s Liberation Movement of the 1970s to the present day, discover the vital work of these two pioneering organisations. From the beginning, both Women's Aid and Leeds Animation Workshop took creative, grassroots approaches to campaigning for women’s rights and addressing social issues that had previously been overlooked. They were driven by an urgent need for change - sparking protest, progress, policy reforms, and empowerment.
Bringing these two important archives together, this exhibition is a vivid account of a half century’s struggle for women’s rights. It is also a celebration of the survival of these organisations, and a reminder of how much work is still to be done.
This special evening event is an opportunity to come together, experience the exhibition alongside the people who put it together, and celebrate the work of these influential women’s organisations.
The exhibition will be available for viewing from 5.30pm - 7.30pm, with welcome remarks at 6.15pm. Refreshments provided.
