We are delighted to be able to welcome Stuart Maconie for an evening in the Old Woollen to talk about his latest publication ‘With A Little Help From Their Friends’ The Beatles changed the world. But who changed theirs?

From this bestselling writer and broadcaster comes a book about the global icons we all know, told through the eyes of people we don’t. Paul, John, Ringo, George. Four lads from Liverpool whose music changed the world as we know it. Theirs is a tale that has become one of the core stories we tell about ourselves as a nation. But their meteoric rise to the top of the charts and lifelong stardom wasn’t achieved in isolation.

From roadies to cabbies, muses to mavericks, photographers to hairdressers, With A Little Help From Their Friends shares the incredible stories of the people who made the Beatles who they were. Bringing a lifetime worth of music knowledge, Maconie takes us behind the narrative we know and reveals more about who was there ‘Before’, ‘With’ and ‘Beyond’ the band’s success. He also adds his own experiences, encounters and conversations that show the Beatles like you’ve never seen them before.
