Eco-Friendly Darkroom Workshop: Plant-based Developers
Craft
Creative Workshop
Workshop

An introduction to making photograph prints - using nothing but plant-based developers and a salt bath - A single 3 Hour Workshop with artist and photographer Joanna Jowett.

Are you interested in how plants can be used within the darkroom as a developer? Want to learn about darkroom alternatives that are less harmful to the environment and give plants a go?

In this workshop, we will be using Rosemary and Nettle to make prints - using nothing but plant-based developers and a salt bath! Expect dark greys, silvers, and possibly some red and purple tones, taking your black-and-white photos in a creative, playful, and unexpected direction.

This is an introductory-level workshop for those with darkroom experience who would like to give an alternative, more sustainable darkroom process a go.

Join us for a hands-on workshop to experiment with plant-based recipes, led by artist and photographer JoannaJowett.

Who is the workshop for?
We will be introducing how to make the developer, so you can then recreate the process independently afterwards, but we won’t be able to teach how to use darkroom equipment or enlargers, so this workshop is only suitable for those who are already comfortable using a darkroom
