Dante's Divine Comedy across contemporary film, music, gaming, and political language, by Dr Laura Lucia Rossi
Talk
Leeds City of Languages

What does a 700-year-old Italian poem have to do with modern life? More than you might think. In this lively  session, Dr Laura Lucia Rossi (University of Leeds) traces the hidden afterlife of Dante's Divine Comedy across contemporary film, music, gaming, and political language. You'll discover how one medieval poet's vision of Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise has never stopped shaping the way we imagine justice, punishment, and the good life. Come prepared to play judge - Dante's circles are waiting to be filled! No prior knowledge required: just an appetite for one of literature's great moral adventures.
